3/10/17 Single incision vasectomy. Procedure itself wasn’t bad. Started having rectal/perineal pain the following day. Pain intensifying at 1 week, and by week 4, pain 8/10 throughout scrotum, rectum, perineum, bilateral groins, bilateral legs and abdomen. Original urologist was condescending and ultimately worthless. Found another urologist who began to help. I had to go on short term disability for 6 weeks and was put on Meloxicam, Neurontin, Amitriptyline, Lexapro, and Restoril. Started pelvic floor PT. Went to psychiatric NP to deal with anxiety and stress. Eventually ended up at a local PVPS urologist who specializes in Reversal, and Denervation. Pain started to improve around 3 months post vasectomy. I currently take Amitriptyline, Cymbalta and NSAIDS.
Currently ~ 1 year post vasectomy. Most general pelvic and rectal pain is minimal. Most pain is in the left epididymis. I do have some right testicular pain for 24-48 hours post ejaculation. Ranges from 1-3, with rare 4-5, but short lived. I will probably not be pursuing anything surgically at this time. However, if things don’t improve further by 18-24 months, I will pursue reversal. I’m still hopeful that time will be the key.
